California - OAK Security Lines Still a Royal Nuisance?

I'll be flying from OAK Terminal 1 this coming Saturday morning (Columbus Day weekend), and should hit the security line shortly after 6:30 am. Is it still a horrendous wait at that time of the morning? When I tried this six months ago, I waited 45 minutes and missed my flight.

Thanks for info.

They are markedly improved. That said, I would still allow plenty of time. My 2 morning departures over the past few months in T-1 have been no more than 10 minute waits. I also think the TSA is taking over any day now at OAK. There was almost a "protest walkout" by the old screeners last week, which was cancelled within minutes of its intended walkout time when the screeners were told that they would be ineligible for TSA employment if they walked out.

As EastBay1k would probably agree, your biggest source of delay at OAK these days is the drive onto airport property, not the lines...but at the time of day you're traveling you shouldn't have many problems.

We won't even talk about the Friday night it took me almost 40 minutes to get from 880 to the Hilton. The scene of people running down Hegenberger Road with luggage was like a scene out of a nuclear disaster movie. Early AM traffic inbound isn't bad at all, but I really recommend that you use an offsite parking lot these days.

Thanks for info. I'll be arriving by common carrier (shuttle or AC Transit).

I've seen only one long security line since summer or maybe earlier, and that was when there was a power failure in T1. The T2 line was still less than 15 minutes!
