Taking BART to San Francisco International Airport will be far cheaper than taking taxis, shuttles or driving and parking if BART directors adopt a proposed fare plan released Thursday.

San Francisco residents are still likely to do better on Caltrain or SamTrans. BART is a "premium" service, and priced accordingly.

Those of us out in the suburbs have been waiting for this for years. BART to Colma, and the SAMTRANS BX bus to SFO, works fine, but I'll probably save at least 30-45 minutes each trip if I can train right into SFO from Contra Costa.

"Our fare policy," he said, "needs to be a fair policy."</font>

If you want to save a $1 or $2 and have plenty of time to spare, you're correct. Otherwise, I think BART will be a much better choice:

1) You can't bring luggage onto the SamTrans express bus, and the local takes a year and a day to get from SF to the airport.

2) Caltrain will still require one to get from the Financial District (or other parts of SF) to 4th and King and a transfer by shuttle from Millbrae to the airport.

Just my perspective though (and I admit, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.) http://www.flyertalk.com/airports/ftairports_forum/smile.gif
