California - BEWARE - Oakland Parking Increase
Without any notice or large display they have increased the prices again to park at OAK.
Long term is $18.00 first day/$15.00 each day after, up from $12.00/day -- 50% increase
Only 5 years ago, it was $5.00/day
I left the lot yesterday, without ever seeing new prices. In fine front on the check out booth, they are listed.
Outrageous.
You might want to try Park, Shuttle and Fly across the street from the long term parking lot. They have indoor and outdoor parking in the $9-$13 range (minus 25% with AAA). Drawbacks are the long wait for shuttles to tha airport and the creepy deserted factory setting.

Does this effect in any way the "economy" lot, which is cheaper I think than the long term parking but also run by the airport (it's on the right as you enter the airport I think)...or does anyone know??
Oakland's "economy" lot was $26/day last time I foolishly pulled in. But it was too late and too crowded to get out because of the construction---- thus my 30 hour trip became $52 more expensive. This is a public disgrace, and I'm back to SFO.

Actually, the economy lot was $10 a day when I parked in it about two weeks ago...
I'm not sure if the rates increased when the regular lot increased though...
It's amazing how horrible it's gotten over the last year at OAK... Just last year you could drive in and find a spot in minutes...
A few weeks ago I got forced into the "overflow" lot.... and forced to deal with Parking Shuttle drivers who drove past me even though I was about 10 feet from the bus shelter, their bus was empty and they saw me.... The driver even had the nerve to point at the shelter to tell me where I "should" be to get a ride... Duh!
There, I feel better now after venting http://www.flyertalk.com/airports/ftairports_forum/smile.gif

Parked for a trip this week at Expresso parking

What a great experience. Fast, friendly shuttle drivers who hustle to help you with your luggage. Free coffee and pastries. Show a AAA card and get 10% discount. After discount was $5.00 per day outdoor (or $8.00 day indoor). Fastest parking shuttle I've ever used.

My friend and I also used Expresso Parking, a really good experience until they gave him a hard time about the AAA card. Their manager acted like an idiot and was way out of line, but I'll probably park there again. It's cheap and the drivers are good.

I got stuck in three different traffic delays on the way to OAK on Thursday afternoon for a LAS flight. The worst congestion was on 880, which was one big parking lot, cluttered with trucks. I ended up exiting at 98th Ave hoping I could make it into PCA, but they were full. I only had 30 mins to flight time, so ended up parking on the airport property so I could make my flight. I was really worried I wouldn't make the 20 minute cutoff, and I've seen UA enforcing that more and more.
I was in the "overflow" lot out beyond the UA hangar, as they had a flashing sign saying the economy lot was full. It's $15 for the first day, and $12 for additional days, and taxes are included. I paid $39 total for 3 days (ouch). This was definitely not part of my original gameplan. Only good part of the story was the $84RT OAK-LAS fare that had me go there in the first place.
