Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Advice on International transfer time - Air Canada to Qantas

Hi All,
Looking for some advice on transfer time. I'm arriving from Hawaii into Sydney on a sunday morning at 7:10am. I am continuing on a Qantas flight from Sydney to Melbourne. Can I make the 9am SYD-MEL flight or should I take the 10am SYD-MEL flight? I have no idea how long immigration, customs, check-in, baggage, etc. should take in SYD.

1:50 is very doable but may be a bit tight. All depends on how long immigration (and subsequently baggage claim and customs clearance) takes. I've seen clearance times anywhere from 10 minutes (very early arrival from Asia) to 20-30 minutes just for immigration (QF flight from HNL arriving about the same time as yours).

Once you clear, you have to find flight connections where you recheck your bag and get a BP before taking a bus to the domestic terminal.

If the flight is on a seperate ticket and you have access to the QF domestic lounge, go for the 1000 flight (it's nice).
