California - Best airport hotel in LAX the Westin?

Guess my title says it all - but I need to know what others think

There isn't really a best LAX hotel, they are all inconsistent and have good and bad points. Westin would be the best if it were properly run and maintained, but it is run down and the staff are inconsistent to put it kindly. One of the worse Westins in the chain. The best hotels near LAX are at Marina del Rey which is about 5 miles away, and the best of these is the Ritz Carlton (an order of magnitude better than the Westin).

Despite the comments on the board I spent last night there between flights. I had booked 2 rooms @ $99 each. I had requested the 2 rooms connect as had children with us.

On check in I could not get 2 rooms connecting. I could get 2 rooms on the same floor but a huge distance between them. I did get 1 room upgraded to a suite. On check in (7pm) I requested a roll away as both rooms had kings. We went out for dinner. No rollaway on return. After 3 calls still did not get one so one child had to sleep on the couch in the suite.

The suite was interestesting. On te 11th floor with a jaccuzzi outside on the balcony.

There were 2 huge groups in the hotel so the elevators were a nightmare - busy and slow.

Overall not a great stay but then for $99 these days....
