California - LAX: Intl to domestic transfer time

I'll be arriving at LAX from AKL on QF around 1030 on 1DEC (the sunday after thanksgiving). How long should it take to grab bags, clear customs, check back in (UA), etc?

I have had some horrible customs/immigration time at LAX. Last Jan 1 in the morning at that terminal, it took well over an hour. (I was flying in on LA about the same time a QF flight arrived, just for your time reference). The immigration line was bad but not intolerable. Then the customs lines were so long that no one could really find the ends of them. The UA terminal also had customs lines last time I was there in the late spring. Its the only airport I have been to in the last several years that have had lengthy customs lines. Based upon these and one or 2 more experiences there (its the only airport that my bags have been really torn apart inbound), I'd allow no less than 90 minutes and at least 2 hours for safety and probably more that day only because it will be a heavy travel day over at UA.

And I've had both horrible lines at Immigration and Customs at the Bradley facility.

Two years ago I flew into LAX on BA (TBI terminal) and it probably took one hour to clear immigration and customs.

At the end of August I flew on VS into Terminal 2 and as I was one of the first of the plane and no queue I had cleared customs and immigration in 15-20mins

Is it possible to walk from Terminal 1 to the International Terminal? How much time to allow?

You can either walk on the deaprtures level or on the arrivals level by going past T 2,3,4 to TBI.

You could do it in around 10mins or less ( if you are a fast walker with no luggage)( allow 15mins)- I walked from T2 to TBI in just over 5 mins.
