California - End to Gate Random Screenings at LAX?

Did I read correctly in the Washington Post that they have ended the useless and intrusive gate checks at LAX? Wow -- I always knew I could count on Californians to think out of the box...

They haven't yet but they are certainly talking about it as if it's going to happen once they sign off on the effectiveness of the new TSA screeners.

Currently at LAX T7 and T8, the TSA people are handling the main X-Ray and metal detector area, and the old purple coat Argenbright folks are now only doing the secondary screenings at the gate.

It's the same way at IAD. Just think -- the contract goons doing the gate searches must be the TSA rejects who couldn't get hired by the government.
