GLBT Travelers - Mexico Riviera Cruise

My hubby & I are on a ten day Statendam cruise from San Diego to Mexico on 01/06/04. (THIS WILL BE A VERY STRAIGHT CRUISE!) We don't really enjoy organized shore excursions -- especially the straight kind! But we would be greatful to receive some info on fun shore activities that might help us forget how straight a HAL ship can be. Ports include Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Cobo and Manzanillo. So if anyone has visited these places and can give us a little guidance on some fun activities that two gay guys might enjoy, we would be thankful.

It's not yet advertised, but my friend who just came from the last one in October said they were offering advanced bookings for alumni. I'm gonna book as soon as it's available! Enjoy!

Unfortunately, there's almost nothing gay to do in Acapulco. I went to one gay bar there once and there were 3 people in the place.

Why the oh-so-straight cruise?

There are a few gay cruise companies that specialize in buying a block of rooms on other-wise straight cruises, as opposed to an all-gay cruise (RSVP, etc). The group has special social events, excursions, etc.

It may well be that one of these companies has 'booked' your ship. I am not sure how they feel or handle people who have not booked through them, as far as joining their activities, but it might be worth a look-see. Perhaps for a few extra $$ you can tag along (if you are so inclined). One company is Friends of Dorothy. There is at least one other, whose name escapes me, but try Googling 'gay cruises' and look for 'gay-hosted' companies.
