Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Hotwire. Shhh. A way to figure out hotel

My brother in law just advised me that there is a way to see which hotel Hotwire is offering.
He said that when you pick hotel and car; the hotel is shown, but not the car company. He said that after that, he goes back and just books the hotel. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

Or you and your brother-in-law can just check the hotel lists at BetterBidding (http://www.betterbidding.com).

This works about as reliably as the rythym method for birth control.
Not all hotels that participate in the opaque channel participate in the vacations channel, and there are indications of the converse being true. The best bet is to use some deductive reasoning and appropriate reference resources, including the bidding websites, AAA and other online sellers of travel.

tinkerdeal -- Most of us are very familiar with biddingfortravel.com It is a great site with lots of useful info -- I refer to it daily.
However, it DOES NOT have comprehensive lists for Hotwire -- it ONLY supports Priceline.
While it's true that not every hotel Hotwire offers through their hotel product will also appear in the vacation product, the fact that it DID scored me a big time "double the difference" guarantee refund.
This was for a resort property in Palm Desert, CA. After applying "double the difference" I came away paying $12.95 out of pocket on a two night stay.
Without Hotwire identifying the hotel in their vacation product, I wouldn't have been able to pull it off.

The other bidding board you mentioned restricts itself to Priceline. From an April 2003 post by the administratix:
This is yet another reminder that BiddingForTravel.com supports Priceline.com (US) travel bidding only. All posts asking the identity of a hotel displayed on Hotwire will be removed.

sorry, but I had to say it:
the moderator of betterbidding.com does not actively censor useful information. certain other bidding websites have that tendency...
