I am looking to fly to Paris from New York over the Christmas holiday, and am looking for the cheapest possible way to fly. I am really flexible with dates/times around Christmas until after the New Year, and am wondering if anyone has any hints or suggestions! Thanks!

Try flying on the holiday - flights are usually almost empty.

I was booking a flight on US to LHR, and if I flew on or after the 24th, the flight was realtively cheap and a "B" class fare, which meant it was upgradeable with certs or miles on the spot.

Just be careful arriving at London or Paris or whatever on the morning of the holiday - might have difficulty getting around unless you have private transportation. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

Good luck. Not sure if this belongs in this forum. Just try bidding low on the holidays and see what happens. Let us know.

Use the fare watcher feature on travelocity. It's a great basis for current fares, but not fool proof. Drop another comment if you are unsure how it works. Also use NYC as your airport, not JFK.

Always check the mileage run category for delas.

Sure, you have to register on travelocity (set up password and login name. then look on the home page to the right and it says fare watcher. Near it it should say edit fare watcher. Click on that. It should then allow you to track 5 different flights for price. For example it could list the cheapest fare from NYC-CDG (any airport in greater NYC to Charles DeGaulle, the main paris airport). Then by clicking on the price it will take you to page listing the airlines, their price (before taxes) and the availaability of the fares. Remember these fares include $5 or $10 travelocity fee. You can usually book cheaper on the carriers web site and may also get add'l benefits (add'l miles or an add'l discount).

good luck

Thanks for all the help--I ended up getting a $272 (before taxes, of course!) flight NY to Paris through the fare watcher on Travelocity--not bad.

Thanks again!
