I was searching for a MR using the .com dreammaps feature. However, the travelocity.com (U.S.) site wasn't showing anything east of Denver for a USD 250 and under fare (they exist), and not because there were a huge number of west coast destinations being offered either. However, when I check the .ca (Canadian) site for the same (sub CAD 250 or about USD190) fares, it lists ATL, FLL, TPA among others).

Any idea what's up?

Originaly posted by EPS in the thread titled Quirks with Travelocity Dream Maps (http://www.flyertalk.com/pasttalk/ftpasttalk_forum/Forum124/HTML/000602.html) <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">there is a limit on the number of cities displayed, and the selection is based on "popularity." There isn't a "master list" of popular destinations; rather, each originating city has its own, and it can change from day to day. (Popularity is, to some extent, subject to seasonal variation.)
For example, the popularity list for SFO might look like:

HNL DEN OGG NYC BOS LAS MSY CHI SAN YVR LAX MSP LIH SEA DTW KOA PDX YYZ ATL PIT CLE PHL FLL TPA MIA AUS PVD STL CMH SNA SLC RDU PHX MHT WAS MCI QHO TUS RNO GEG SJC SMF

So, the map display starts with the most popular destination (HNL), and plots each city that falls at or below the requested fare ceiling, until it runs out of fares, or hits the "hard" limit (18). Hence a "$134" fare to San Diego will take precedence over a "$78" fare to Reno.

Conclusion: Dream Maps are not designed to offer you the lowest "lowest" fares, but the highest (and generally, most profitable) "lowest" fares you are willing to pay for.</font>Really not sure if that is answering your question or not so I will also give you the old standby - "to err is human to really screw up you need a computer" http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif
