Does anybody know of a travel website that allows you to put in a Departure airport and a price range and dates and will give you a listing of all possible Destinations in that price range based on your travel dates and departure point? I sporatically get days off that I'd like to spontaneosly escape to a random destination but it's a pain in the neck searching for "random" destinations. I already belong to several airlines "last minute deals" e-mail lists but I'm looking for another alternative.

I live in the New York area and use that as my point of origin. i would love a website where i could plug in the departure point, dates, and price range and have it display a list of all the destinations I could fly to for that amount. Last minute also. The travelocity "Dream Maps" is the closest thing I've seen so far, but it doesn't let you plug in dates. Also, when looking for a last minute deal, it doesn't allow you to choose a "flight only" option. There's gotta be something out there!

PS this is a cross post from FT Miles

How about www.site59.com (http://www.site59.com)

You can leave the destination area blank/default and it will show you all the last minute deals from New York.

Thanks, but this site does not have a "flight only" option. It's for package-deals.

This is not exactly what you are looking for, and I don't think it finds all the specials nor does it include budget airlines. But you can go to http://www.itasoftware.com and set up an itinerary with two airports. For the destination airport, you can choose up to 500 miles distance from it. So essentially you get the cheapest fares for all destination airports within 500 miles of the one you select.

Travelocity has a service called Dream Maps where you input your origin and max price and it shows places you can go. You can select "last-minute deals" but not specific dates - not sure if this is what you're looking for but it seems pretty close.

Although I haven't used them yet, LastMinuteTravel.com looks interesting.Site59.com has a "this weekend" browser.Expedia also has a good last minute deal section.

Just to add that it's for the "20 most popular" destinations for that price cap. Say, if you choose under $250 for ex-EWR flights, it may not list that bargain flight to JNU or SIT.

Anyone know what airline site59 uses? Some of the deals look pretty interesting like this:

http://www.site59.com/detail.html?in_origination_key=364&in_package_key=5019483&&in_listclick=pkg_text_fh_3

But they do not mention WHAT airline!

You have to go through the process of booking -select your dates and desired hotel- then the available flights will be presented to you before you pay for anything.

In your linked example, for instance, flights on NW, DL, and CO are given as options.

Wow,
I don't think I have ever heard interesting and Knoxville used together before. I always think of the classic Simpsons roadtrip epidsode when I think of Knoxville.
