I don't know if it's still available, but the JW Marriott in Phuket for about US$40 a night through Priceline was an awesome deal. I'm curious if anyone knows of any other spectacular resort deals that can be had on Priceline. I'm itching to go someplace ...

I have had a few very nice places in San Antonio (the other Alamo).
I got a great price ($65 )for the Loews Coranado (San Diego). They upgraded me to a huge waterfront room.
The JW Marriott Las Vegas at $60 was very nice.
The Westin at Hilton Head was $77 (high season).

I think that the Westin Rio Mar on puerto rico is pretty darn good. I got it for $59 and $69. Check out my "theory of nines" (as another BFT reader coined it) on snagging this great place.

Back when it came up, me and Ms. chobby100 hit the WEstin Diplomat in Hollywood, FL (btwn MIA and FLL) for $50 a night. Sadly they have either rasied their rates significantly or dropped out alltogether.

A week at the Marriott World Center in Orlando at $70 a night is about the best resort deal I've nailed on Priceline.

A few years ago when AMEX was offering $20 bonus money (max 5 nights/$100) my wife, Brigitte and I scored the Sheraton San Marcos in Chandler, AZ. for $9. Many others on Sheryl's board were getting the same deal. Of course, this was in the height of summer, but Brigitte and I do love dry heat and had the pool to ourselves for most of our stay. Amazingly, as a SW Platinum we received a suite, a bottle of wine with a fruit and cheese plate.

I stayed 4 nights at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, Florida for $50 a night and 5 nights at Hilton Tapatio Cliffs in Phoeniz, Arizona for $55 a night. Both stays were last year and both properties were very nice.

I think you probably got a great deal! I stayed at the Ritz Lake Las Vegas just a few weeks ago and met a couple who got their stay at the Ritz through Priceline--probably a vacation package. I wish I had asked them more questions, because it's one heck of a nice hotel.

Yes. I've stayed there several times on a PL bid. I've never paid more than $50/night, and the hotel staff always treat you exceptionally well.

I like the free riverboat shuttle over to the Shangra La.

Marriott Camelback resort in Phoenix, AZ for $30 a night (when there was $20 bonus money). I called and asked for an upgrade for my wife's birthday and they gave me an awesome upgrade (I was also Marriott Platinum at the time). Just one step below the rooms that had their own pools.

In return I paid several hundred dollars in incidental charges at the hotel, so we all came out ahead http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

I am so glad you asked this question. We are also looking for a great Resort for next summer's Priceline vacation! We just got back from the Hyatt Tamaya Resort in New Mexico. Beautiful place by the Sandia Mountains and Rio Grande. They had nice rooms (not as special as I had hoped), 3 pools and waterslide with great poolside restaurant, horseback riding, free bikes to ride, shuttle to a Casino, beautiful golf course, the staff jumped at your every whim. We felt really pampered. There were lots of things to see in that area and we also drove to Santa Fe. Very very hot there!
We got it for $69 in July when we bid Resort* for Albuquerque area called Santa Ana Pueblo.

How do you bid for specific hotels, e.g. the Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa or the JW Marriott? Did you use the Priceline US site or the Singapore or HongKong Sites?

I am interested in booking some rooms in Australia and Thailand over the next two weeks. I will appreciate any help.

satish: I used the Hong Kong site for the JW Marriott in Phuket. YOu'd have to look at the discussion board for that site, but I'm pretty sure it's the only resort in the Thalang area. Last I looked they were still accepting bids at around US$50 a night.
