They've been down all day today and were down for several hours on Sunday and Monday. I'm not sure if they were down at all on Tuesday.

I was on earlier this week and had no problem--yesterday or Monday, I guess. Well, not uncommon--these sites are down all the time. At least Orbitz lets us know. They're probably doing some redesigns or updates or something.

Nope, that's not the type of thing you do during business hours. It's actually the most significant outage in their history.

That BiddingForTravel site seems to have frequent problems, too.

Go figure.

Nope, no problems at BiddingForTravel.com. Suggest you get a new ISP. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif

This Orbitz problem is indeed significant, as Sheryl has pointed out.

This is actually the work that keeps my company employed. But we work to prevent these outages. It is horrible to see one in slow-motion like this. Very, very bad for business. Like having to close Macy's on the day after Thanksgiving bad for business.

aconcagua98, BFT generally has few technical problems. However, if you criticize BFT here on FT, you'll experience technical problems aplenty.

Yes, it's amusing to watch someone with an obvious personality disorder, which negatively affects the content and quality of their own website, critizize a one-day technical glitch on another site.

Orbitz can fix their problem by resolving the software issue. BFT can only be repaired with years and years of therapy.

Guess which site's issues will never be resolved.....

Last time I checked, Orbitz made a profit on their site. Jealousy may be a factor here.

There is so much more than a personality disorder!!

Well, I guess I shouldn't have opened my mouth without the techincal background that you all seem to have!! Haha... I will say that though I'm sure the people at Orbitz were at their wits end, I'd stil lrather use them than to have to deal with the hassles I've experienced with others.

I think ual.com is by far the least reliable of all travel sites. In the United forum, scores of users have posted their problems with accessing and using that site.

The Starwood site is no prize, and has a gross misrepresentation in it.

Boasting:

Best rates, Guaranteed....

when it presents

"Average daily rate, low to high"

for a long term stay, the site just takes the highest best single night rate, and multiplies that rate by the number of nights requested. The site cannot and does not average daily rates. i.e.When 2 weekend $149's when tied to 2 weekday $189's, the site presents a total of $756.
