I need some advice:

We'll be going (# adults) from SFO or OAK to PVR on Oct. 11, ret Oct. 18. Dates are pretty much set. In the past we've gotten great deals on Alaska around 250-300$.

Now Alaska lists for around $500, with a stop in LA. The direct flight lists at over 600, which I take to mean that the lowest fare codes are gone.

Suntrips has a quasi-charter out of oakland for about $300 plus taxes.

Should I go for it, forfeit any mileage points on Alaska or wait for prices to come down? (If they will?!?)

Even priceline was almost 500.

Thanks!

Nobbi

PVR is truly a niche...it's called tourists. People expect to pay around $500 to get there, so the airlines know they don't need to drop fares.

As a part-time PVR resident, I've never seen fares from the US to PVR drop much lower than US$400.

You may want to snap up that $300 deal.

Thanks, All!

But the fares are indded low at times. Currently Alaska has a 270 RT fare, but it's only till the end of September.

Someone else advised me to wait for their next sale.
