Hi all -
Just wondering if anyone has any good recommendations for booking flights/hotels online for Asia? I tried booking a hotel on Asiatravel.com once and swore never again after they took 3 DAYS to confirm the reservation! Thank you in advance!

Just received a mailer for this site just launched recently. Not much choice of hotels but it does seem to have a few very good last minute rates in Singapore.

thanks NielsK. you're right - not much selection, but the rates for the singapore hotels are very competitive. must be some special deals as they only deal with a last minute 14-day window.

I sometimes use the www.AsiaAirfare.com (http://www.AsiaAirfare.com) website for cheap tickets (especially on Northwest) to Asia. You can't book online, but the owner is a nice gentleman who provides great service and discount tickets over the phone.

i just tried quickhotelrooms.com earlier this week for a last-minute business trip to kuala lumpur. got a pretty ok rate at the park plaza (US$53). what i particularly liked was that you get instant confirmation and nothing is charged online and payment is to the hotel when you check in....

I found the Park Plaza Kuala Lumpur horrible. I stayed there one night and couldn't wait to get out of there sooner.

When i went into the bathroom, there was a lump of faecaes, dried nearby the toilet. Looks like they never cleaned it up. Absolutely horrible.

The room was pretty small, and despite looking relatively modern outside lacked that in the room. The hotel I felt was isolated from the main shopping / eating areas near Sungei Wang / Lot 10 (ie JW Marriot / Regent). The price I got was good, you can get better than us$53 /night, look around more.

I did earn 1,500 QFF points for the stay which was probably the only good point.

I quickly moved across to the Hilton KL after that (sadly since closed and now another brand) which I enjoyed immensely, whilst old, it still had magnificent charm and the staff were very friendly and helpful, i'll miss the Hilton KL.
