Anyone know of any? I am looking for some intra-Asia fares originating from Tokyo. I understand fares ex-Tokyo are all on the high side, but anything better than Expedia/Travelocity fares will be helpful.

If physically in Tokyo, the procedure for buying a cheap fare ex-Japan usually is: - find agency in English newspaper (Daily Yomiuri, Japan Times, etc.) or free Tokyo Classifieds; oftentimes a mini-map is included - go to agency (usually in Shinjuku or Shibuya) and locate one of their few English speakers - pay for ticket in cash (no CC's) - pick up ticket at tour group counter in Narita (usually at least 2-3 days after purchase) - this will net you a GIT 'tour group' fare that yields reduced or no miles on many Asian carriers, but full miles on UA and NW. The lowest advertised prices are sometimes on airlines from Egypt, Pakistan, or Bangladesh... I guess there is no real low fare intra-Asia ex-Tokyo. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/frown.gif monahos Apr 14, 02, 3:19 pm Japan is an expensive place to fly from, especially for travel to Asia http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/frown.gif . You are competing with affluent people with little time, who are looking for pleasant destinations which are not half a day away. If you have UA or NW miles, this is the time to use them (20/30/40K Y/C/F awards), although some routes such as NRT-BKK on UA or NRT-MNL on NW are hard to get an award ticket on. |
