Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Can Orbitz hold a ticket?

Can Orbitz put a ticket on hold? By this I mean you make the reservation now and actually purchase it within 24 Hrs. In the past I have purchased it then had to fight with them that it is refundable within 24 hrs.

I don't think they can, actually. But, remember, the 24-hour courtesy holds that airlines give you don't guarantee fares, so you can still get hit with a price increase between when you request the hold and when you ticket. If you want to lock in a price, it's better to buy the ticket and then cancel within the 24-hour window if you need to. Although they are not supposed to, some travel agents will also provide this service for you -- in certain cases, they can stretch the 24-hours into 3 or 4 days.

That's what I thought, but the last couple times I've held tickets with AA, the agent said the fare was guaranteed.
