I understand you are entitled to a stopover of up to 24 hours as part of the regular fare. More than 24 hours and it counts as 2 flights.

Domestic ticket is 4 hour connection rule
International is 24 hour rule.

Online booking... for the specific airline, try posting on the miles board, in the airline of your choice. And be specific with your questions for greater response.

For online bidding for trips... many of the bidding boards have info... try Sheryl's board. Find it by searching this forum. They may offer more assistance.......

good luck

Consider doing it as two round trips too, a to b, stop for a day or so, then another ticket b to c. On the return c to b then b to a.

Also, look into the airline's specials, for example, British air is giving a free two day stop over in London (with two free hotel nights) on many of it's flights from the states to Europe.

Usually the way I do it as well, unless the stopover fee is less than the cost of booking two tickets.
