Vanguard offers its own limited bidding program, where you specify the general time of day you want the flight, departure and arrival city, and the price you want to pay and it tells you if they accept your offer.
Looks to me it's all manually done (ie someone looks over your bid and decides to take it or not) so its not very hightech, but if you are going somewhere that Vanguard flies (pretty small airline) then it's an option to save some money (Vanguard is often very cheap on the routes they do fly)
