Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Orbitz Has Credit Card Crooks Arrested at Airports
Orbitz is getting tough on credit card fraud by allowing suspicious transactions to go through -- and then having the ticketholders arrested at the airport.
The new strategy was adopted early this month, and by mid-month suspicious ticketholders had been arrested at airports four times, according to Orbitz chief technology officer Alex Zoghlin.
Previously, the company canceled a suspicious transaction instead of allowing the ticket to be issued, he said.
To weed out people misusing credit cards, the online agency is using new software that ranks the transaction for its fraud potential.

After I accused Orbitz of fraud and tried to have a number of media outlets help expose Orbitz's business practices, the company hired an Ivy League litigator who bills at about $2,500 per hour and works for a large international firm to harass and intimidate me. The attorney invited me to his office, and when I arrived the receptionist told me he was out of town that week. A trap. Probably before I even left his firm's palatial lobby, he was on the phone from wherever he was trying to have me arrested by local police for trespassing and claiming that I had bypassed security in the highrise office building where the firm is headquartered.
Bypassed security? I still have the bright green security pass issued at the security desk in the building lobby after I presented the attorney's letter of invitation and my drivers license. After issuing the pass, security direceted me to the elevators to get to his firm's lobby on an upper floor. While the architecture and decorating were stunning, the experience was among the worst I have had anywhere. Dishonest, deceitful, and dispicable. This was no mistake. It was just what it looked like.
