My husband is joining me on a business trip to Athens in early May. We plan to spend a few days at the Blue Palace Resort in Elounda on Crete. Can anyone share some wisdom about the resort, Elounda and recommend how we buy airfare for travel between Athens & Elounda? Thanks!

You can fly from ATH to Heraklion on either Olympic Airways (the Greek flag carrier) or Aegean Airways. Don't know if either of them offer online booking on their own web site, but you should certainly be able to book Olympic flights via any of the generic booking engines or via a conventional travel agent anywhere in the world.

Alternatively there is the overnight ferry (that's how I travelled to Crete a couple of years ago). I used Anek Lines and found the boat very clean and modern, with large hotel-style cabins. One of my colleagues used one of their competitors (whose name escaped me) and found them to be very good also.

I flew into Iraklion on LH from Frankfurt and out on Olympic to Athens. No problems. But I did rent a car on Crete as it's a very large island to explore. Try Aggelos Nikolos if you have time. Also the ancient Sumerian palace!
