Europe - Transport Milan-Linate to Bergamo

I am traveling to Italy in the autumn, arriving Milan-Linate. What is the safest/least expensive way to get to my hotel in Bergamo? Are there bus transfers to the train station (centrale or another?) or should I get a transfer to Bergamo airport and taxi from there?
Many thanks.

Looks like you can get the bus from Linate to Milano Stazione Centrale and then the train to Bergamo. Have no first-hand experience with this; I came in and out of Malpensa...both the train and the express bus were great!
Have a fabulous trip! Italy in fall is - wonderful!

The Milan metro goes to Linate. You could take the metro to Stazione Centrale and take a train from there. I've made the metro trip before. Allow at least 45 minutes. You can check Milan-Bergamo rail schedules at www.fs-on-line.com (http://www.fs-on-line.com)

Pilgrim,
As you have already been advised there is very frequent train service although driving is more fun. Be sure to go to Bergamo Alta! It is amazing, especially the "other" side of the mountain. Bergamo Bassa is very different from Bergamo Alta. Do be aware of the Non-Italian crime element in the larger northern towns. They generally don't like Americans. Have fun!
