Thanks. You must be a legal resident of US to qualify (the main page incorrectly says that you must be a US citizen).

I was just thinking the other day how a million Starpoints would perfectly complement a million Latin Pass miles!
Thanks!

Thanks a bunch.
What would I do with a million starpoints?
Hmmm...
Would probably transfer 800,000 for a million AA miles and lifetime platinum.
Still would have 200,000 Starpoints left...

Maybe you want to post a link to this from the Starwood site so the Starwood people can also get a chance to enter as well.
But thanks for the tip.
Now BoSox: if you are married you could use the 200K points and with the first class tickets take your wife on a second honey and use the 200K points to get the best rooms at a Starwood property.

Man.... these geographical discriminations just dont make sense for me.... of course, they usually give you the standard legal jargon as an excuse, but my read on this is simple: if your legal counsel doesnt let you do a promotion worldwide, then be sure to set up a separate/comparable promotion for your other mayor markets.

The only problem I have with this contest entry for StarWood is that you cannot deselect the two following items:
1. Yes, please send me personalized vacation offers.
2. Yes, I would like to be added to your e-mail list for special Internet offers.
I believe StarWood would stoop to this level of no option spam marketing...

Gaucho:
Yeah, Starwood is going to do 182 different promotions to cover the different laws in every country. I know you said Major markets, but who defines a major market?
Maybe to Starwood Indonesia isnt a major market. You be upset then, because US, Europe and Japan got to promotion. No matter what they do, unless they offer it everyone, someone can be upset.
If Starwood(or any other company) does a UK promotion, thats fine with me. They have a right to look for business anywhere they choose.
I, and nobody else for that matter, don't have any entitlement to promotions and offers.
What's to stop someone from saying, hey I satyed at Starwood 8 times in one month, I should be platinum for that month?
The hotels/airlines set the rules for their programs. They choose who gets things and who doesn't.
The 1 million starpoints is worth about $20,000. Starwood has the right to spend their 20,000 anyway they choose. Whether You, I, or the man in moon like it or not.

How ironic that the Vacation Club International sweepstakes, as well as the Starpoints offer, is not available to International participants.
Boomer: what's your problem? We stay at the same hotels, why not take part in the same promotions?

Roger:
My problem is this insistance among some flyertalkers that everyone is entitled to every promotion.
Airlines and Hotels have every right to offer selected promotions to whomever they choose.
I've seen International promotions that weren't open to US residents. Since the Airline/Hotel is paying the cost of the promotion, they have the right to choose who they offer it to.
Just because someone gives my brother a great deal, doesn't mean they have to give the same deal to me.
I've seen this issues raised time and again on flyertalk. In the continental forum this comes up every couple of months, they do a lot of targeted marketing. Some of us get one offer, others get a different one. People named JAWS usually get no offer.
The entitlement crowd is basically saying that anything a company offers to one person they have to offer to all people. I find this premise fundamentally wrong. Furthermore since most of are elites we seem to be very happy to except unequal treatment when we benefit.
As a case in point, Continental earlier this year, gave a good friend a fabulous deal, a possible bonus of 190,000 miles. This friend never flew Continental. I fly them 100,000 a year and I didnt get the offer.
Would I have liked to get the offer, sure.
Was I entitled to it, NO.
Was Continental wrong not to offer it to me? NO.

Hmm, I wonder how many vacationclub sweepstakes variations there are. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Replace amex with usairways for a chance to win 100,000 Dividend Miles.

I must say I dislike the cheezy way they pre-selected the "yes" boxes to be sent offers and e-mails and that there is no way to de-select them... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif
