I am considering a vaction to Hong Kong and have a couple of questions. I have 15 days vacation available to me. Is 15 days too much to spend in HK?

Also, what are the electrical requirements coming from North America?

With 15 days, I'd go city-hopping. 5 days in Hong Kong, 3 days in Singapore, 3 days in Bangkok, and the balance visiting some resort sites like Bali, Langkawi, or Phuket.

Or perhaps you could visit mainland China.

Yes, 15 days is too long. We stayed 5 days and felt we could have had another day or two. I would combine it with another destination. Which destination would depend on what you are looking for. We spent 5 days in HK and then went on to Bangkok for 4 and on to Koh Samui for some relaxation.

I would say that 5-6 days is an appropriate amount of time to spend in HK. Assuming you are coming from the US, the Hong Kong Tourism Board posts some nice offers on their website.

From HK, IMHO many US/European tourists tend to head to SE Asia or China. SE Asia will be much cheaper as an escorted tour is unnecessary, whereas in China you will most likely find it a good idea.

BKK and the beach is a nice option, or go for Beijing/Xian. For options in the PRC, try www.chinatravelone.com. (http://www.chinatravelone.com.) CTS is the official travel agency of the PRC.

Actually, Mrs Rawhide and myself are now considering maybe 7 days in Hong Kong, and then maybe 7 days in Tokyo. We will be traveling with a 10 year old and an 18 month old.

We really enjoyed Japan last year
