Anyone know this place?
Lotte Hotel - Seoul, Korea
1, Sogong-don, Jung-gu
Seoul, Korea 100-070
I have a meeting there and I'd probably prefer to stay in a chain hotel to earn points. Is there a western chain hotel nearby the Lotte?

This Lotte hotel (there are two in Seoul) is in the same block as the Westin Chosun.
The Radisson-affiliated Plaza is across the street. Its top floor French restaurant has an inexpensive (by Seoul standards) lunch menu with a great view, if interested. The Lotte's restaurants are very expensive, especially the highly-rated Japanese one.

Thanks! The Lotte sounds fun, but I'll take the Starpoints and upgrade at the Westin.
Westin recently renovated its guests rooms and is close to Lotte hotel. Actaully, Lotte's Japanese breakfast (especially rice porridge) is pretty good.

Korean Guy, you have a great culinary blog, but for some reason I can't get the photos to show. It's very rare to get that kind of insight in English. ^

Thanks for your compliment, mosburger. :)
I think the web site's host had some problems yesterday.
It seems to work fine now.

Does anyone have any email contacts for the Lotte in Seoul (the one near the Westin)? The email on their web site keeps getting returned as undeliverable. Thanks!

Is this a luxury hotel on the level of the Park Hyatt and Ritz-Carltons of Seoul?
I see that Pierre Gagnaire has a rather elegant outpost at this hotel.

Not exactly. It has a cheaper wing popular with Japanese package tourists, but the rack rates in its more expensive wing are certainly in the luxury class. The service levels in that wing are quite high, with maids assigned full time to each floor, who seems aware of all comings and goings, and freshen rooms accordingly. At least that was my experience in the past.
As the flagship hotel of a Korean conglomerate, this Lotte does house expensive eateries, and is a popular meeting place for the local business community. The upscale flagship Lotte department store is adjacent. Added to the neighborhood top hotels' continued one-upmanship in refurbishing their health clubs (the newest and greatest is always a hit with the more active part of the local elite), I get the impression the Lotte caters more to Koreans than to foreigners. Certainly a different market than e.g. the much smaller Park Hyatt.

I stayed there years ago..... 23 of them to be exact. Traded babysitting weekends with a few couples, and we spent the weekend in luxury. Fond memories.
