Asia - Thai airways 744 lax-bkk

This will be my first ever 1st class flight, I will be flying a 744 plane out of lax in first(on points) Anyone have any reviews on this flight, also is there a difference between the 744 and the 747?

The 744 is just a specific type of 747, that is, the 747-400.

Ditto to the Thai forum. But I took that flight recently in F using points and it was fine. The seats are not sleepers, but they are comfortable and I slept for about 7 hours on board. The food is really good.

Thai airlines was quite famous last year when the Prime Minister of Thailand announced that he was embarassed about the airline. The BBC story said "Mr Thaksin made clear his feelings in May when he said the airline "sucks" and that if he had any choice he would not fly with it." But he probably has higher expectations than other passengers. And Thai must have improved by now.

Actually, Thaksin just purchased a 51% share in no-frills carrier Air Asia's upcoming Thai subsidiary, so looks like he's put his money where his mouth is... THAI is about to get some real competition!
