Have stayed at the Peninsula and Oriental on prior trips but this time planning on staying in the shopping and business district instead of the river area. Got a suite for $195 a night at the Regent but wondering if it is worth it or should I stay at the JW Marriott or Sheraton Sukumvit instead. Any reviews on the Regent or recommendations?

You can get the Regent for quite a bit less prepaid. As low as USD 90 inc. tax and breakfast. You might want to try Suvanair travel agency in bangkok.

I have stayed at the Regent three times in the past year. Very attentive staff, the Ratchadamri SkyTrain is outside the front door, and plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
