Has anyone been to Steve Erwin's Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast? I'm thinking of taking the trek up tommorrow, if it's really worth doing?

Is it just your stock standard wildlife show or do they make it upbeat and interesting (excluding dangling little babies in front of crocs though)??

I enjoyed it Kawoh. We drove up for the day from Goodna (near Ipswich) and I thought it was worth the trip. It's also really well set-up for families.

Well worth a trip, I only hate it when he takes his baby into the crock pen!

But besides that, its all very good

I really liked the zoo... spent time at Mooloolaba and took a van up.

How far of a drive from Noosa to his zoo? Looks to be nearby and we plan to be there in November.

I am not sure how far it is but from their website-

"We have our very own ‘Courtesy Coach' which operates 7 days a week (excluding Christmas Day), which runs along the SUNSHINE COAST (Noosa to Caloundra). We will pick you up in the morning and return you in the afternoon. Listed below are the schedule stops. For this FREE service please call Australia Zoo on 5436 2000 as bookings are essential.
8.30am Noosa Heads Bus Stop, Noosa Parade (Transit Centre)
3.30pm Depart Australia Zoo"

I remember it around 30 minutes from Noosa, too. Easy drive.

Worth the trip, Mrs Shillard & I spent half a day there back in January.

Word of warning though - the food is appalling. Take your own. This is advice from somebody who will eat almost any greasy crap.

if you are fan of the show then it's worth a visit. Otherwise it's not that special except for the crocodille show which is fun.

Noosa is not far. Maybe 45 min drive, maybe less even. Very nice place.

Some nice places near the zoo as well. Some weird looking mountains around there (Glasshouse Mountains). Maleny is a nice little village within the sunshine coast. The beaches on the coast out from the zoo are also nice. A couple of small cities around there with some shopping. But not as nice as Noosa so I recommend driving further up to Noosa.
