Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Pacific Island Nation of Palau - where to stay?

I will be going to Palau in October for the weekend and I am looking for sa\ome advice of where to stay.

Suggestions and comments welcome.

Unfortunately I can't offer you any assistance, but I couldn't resist pointing out how envious I am! I'm dying to go to Palau - what takes you there? Apparently the diving in the Rock Islands is absolutely amazing.

May I cheekily request a quick trip report on your return?

I just thought it would be a nice way to spend a long weekend! I live and work in Nagoya, Japan and Continental has excellent flight times out of Nagoya on Friday Afternoon after work - that's about it really. It was either Palau or Yap. My wife likes nice hotels, so Palau it is.

I will certainly file a trip report on this one.

You may want to do a search in the continental forum. I think someone mentioned the Palau Pacific resort.

I'm with mad_atta on this one, try to get certified in Scuba before you go davistev if you are not already.

I just cancelled my hotel for $250 and rebooked at $170 for the same hotel. Unfortunately, we are not divers and we prefer to stay above water.....still....I am sure it will be nice.

A few issues ago, Palau was featured in Islands (a magazine about...yes...Islands) and it looks absolutely breathtaking. The article was titled, "Techocolor Isles" and for good reason. The photos were like paintings and the stories magical. Like mad atta, I am also envious. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

Oh, and the magazine generally doesnt have a lot of info about hotels. It focuses on the actual place a bit more. Occasionally they do, but this wasn't such occasion.
