I have just had the most WONDERFUL holiday in a beautiful town called Albany on the South Coast of Western Australia!!
Is anyone familiar with this town?? My partner and I were anticipating staying in Margaret River but were recommended the drive down to Albany and we stayed FIVE extra days!! The accommodation we stayed at was possibly the most enjoyable experiences we have had for many many travelling years. You may not be able to get your FF programme rewards BUT the hospitality of Keith and Janet at The Beach House at Bayside is all the reward you could want. I'd LOVE to hear if anyone else has stayed there - and to HIGHLY recommend if you are in West Australia.

Welcome to FT, ssshhhh.

100% agree with you about Albany - it is a fantastic experience. Will keep in mind your recommendation for the beach house, although The Esplanade (http://www.albanyesplanade.com.au/) is also worth it, just for huge leather chairs and the log fire in the main lounge...

(Edited for spelling!)

We stayed in Albany a year ago March. Also Bunbury. Then over the hill back to Freo. Took 4 days to do this trip. No traffic. Wagin has the largest sheep in the world (concrete on a platform). Only sad thing were all the dead roos along the road.

Wave Rock is another great site in WA. The cemetary for dogs and cats was a big surprise out in nowhere too. Stopped by one house that had hundreds of roos on the front lawn!! Just hanging out! Great one day bus tour.

WA has a lot to offer but few Americans ever see it.

Just got back from Brisbane and Tassie yesterday. Will be doing trips reports when I get some sleep and do the mail, bills etc.
