Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Cape Trib/Daintree tour? + Kuranda question

I will be in Cairns in early Nov. After my scuba certification class, I have 2.5 days left to explore the Cairns area. I was thinking about taking an overnight tour to Cape Tributlation/Daintree, but I am having a hard time finding recommendations/reviews. Does anyone have any advice? Would it be better to take a couple tours (e.g. perhaps a day and an evening?). I will be traveling by myself (I am a 26 yr old female and I don't need anything 5 star in terms of overnight accomadation). I'd like to have the best learning experience/see the most possible in this short period.

Finally, I was planning on spending my last 1/2 day visiting Kuranda (I really just want to experience the skyrail). Can I do this if I leave Cairns early AM, get back to collect my bags and make my 315PM flight to Sydney?

Thanks for all your help. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

hi there! I can't say anything useful about the Daintree trip either way because I didn't go.

But as for Kuranda, sure it's worth maybe 2 hours of looking around. Take a walk away from the main shops area, there are some good hiking paths.

And the best advice -- all the books say to take some $20 tour up there -- skip it! There's a small bus that can get you up the mountain for $1. I forget the street names exactly, but it leaves from near the back of the big supermarket in town, a few streets back from the water! It will get you there in maybe 30 minutes. Enjoy.

TA - thanks for the Kuranda tip. I will make sure to look into the bus. Have a great time on your upcoming 3rd trip!
