Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - "current" issues in NZ

Electrical current, that is.

First question--I just bought a cd player with cassette adapter for the rental car. Are cigarette lighter/power plugs the same size there as in the U.S.?

Second--what shape are the wall outlet plugs, so I take the correct adapter.

I am not sure about New Zealand but I know that my cell phone charger works in my car in Australia and my husbands car in the USA.

Also when you buy electric plug adapters they usually have the country they are for written on the pack.
