Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Cairns Accomodation Recommendation needed

I will be in Cairns in early November. I am planning to obtain my scuba certification with Down Under Dive (http://www.downunderdive.com.au) which is located at 287 Draper Street in Cairns. I will be traveling on my own and am looking for reasonably priced accomodations in CNS, preferably within walking distance of the dive school. Does anyone have any suggestions? Hi,
I am in Cairns every couple of weeks for work and I usually stay at the Matson Plaza hotel, which is on the Esplanade.
For the best rates for most hotels in Cairns , go to http://www.wotif.com/accommodation/default.asp and look for Tropical North.

The Matson is not on here, but you should be able to find plenty on here. AS far aswalking in Cairns, most tourist business's have a pick up service from your hotel free of charge.
Depending what time of year you are going I would use this service as it can get VERY humid and walking will have you knackered by the end of the first block!
