Looking to go to Taz and Brisbane. Using UA miles can get to Melbourne (ferry to Taz and back).

When I book an award ticket there does not seem to be any partner, yet on a paid ticket Virgin Blue shows up. Do I need to book a rt Mel to BNE myself, no point method available?? (also have AS points)

Also interested in anyone's opinion on the time to do Taz. No hiking more that a 2 mile rt at a time (foot problem), all museums (unless art only), all animal "things", start the day at 8 am and near hotel by 5 pm.

Looking to go in Sept, Oct or very early Nov for about 21 days. Any suggestions on the order of the visit (TAZ versus BNE). What about flying into Hobart vrs. L...... instead of taking the ferry? Guessing that going to Bne first will allow an easier transition that LAX-SYD-MEL-sit around...Ferry to Taz...AM arrivial dead, but must do "something" until we can check into a hotel... Any one see this different.

Sorry, but I can't help you on this one!
I tried to get just an "inter Australia" award flight with British Airways and Continental miles, but they don't exist.

As far as I know you have to buy a ticket. The lowest rates on the web sites are very restrictive, and normally allow no changes.

Do Qantas still offer the "zone coupons" for international travellers?

Kind of like a "visit Australia fare"

Suzie,

Take a look on the Qantas site for their Boomerang Pass, I believe it might be what your looking for.

Beside taking a look at the boomerang pass from Qantas...look at the Red-E-deals. I priced both and it was cheaper to book with the deals than the pass. You only need an OZ address (hotel or etc.) My only item to watch out for is the flight changes. On my trip there were 2 that they had let us know via email but I never recieved...needless to say I lost sleep and money.

Virgin Blue offer codeshares with UA, but not mileage redemption. Your only choice with UA miles is to purchase a ticket or to use Air NZ and transit via New Zealand (eg BNE-AKL-MEL).

Generally cheapest way is to book red-e-deal on-line with QF or to book on-line with DJ (Virgin Blue). Its only a 2 hour flight BNE-MEL so just go for the cheapest option.

You mean INTRA-country transport (within one country) http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif. Inter means 'from one to another.'
