The Caribbean - What time of year is best for Bahamas?

Looking for best airfare during the year as well as best weather.

We were there a few years ago in October and the weather was horrible. It rained every day. We were so disappointed after spending so much money. I would check the annual weather maps on the weather sites.

Yea, I've wondered about hurricaine season too.
Is there any part of the caribbean that is safe from hurricaines? Like maybe the area near Venezuela?
