We're going to London in mid-November... Does anyone have a great hotel recommendation? It would be great if we could earn miles/points, but the most important thing is that we have an enjoyable stay. Thanks in advance!

Mvic Aug 23, 00, 6:34 pm I personally like the Dorchester but haven't been there in a few years. I hear it has been completely remodeled though. It used to be the place for afternoon tea and it is next to Hyde park. If someone has stayed there recently I wouldn't mind knowing if it has maintained its standards. The conservatory rooms are spacious and full of natural light. The lobby bar and formal bar are full of life. Food is sumptuous. But, alas, no frequent stay or frequent flyer points. The parks are literally across the street. Belgravia, Harrods, Regents Street, theater district and royal/government buildings are all easily walkable in fair weather. On my last November visit, temperatures were in the 60s. Djlawman Aug 23, 00, 7:08 pm I haven't stayed at EVERY good hotel in London yet, but I like the May Fair Intercontinental. Join the Six Continents Club, get an upgraded room, and the hotel is great. Great location near Buckingham Palace, Picadilly, etc. [This message has been edited by Djlawman (edited 08-23-2000).] Boomer Aug 23, 00, 8:23 pm The Sheraton Belgravia is a fabulous Hotel. I'd highly recommend it. It offered the best service I've ever seen in any Hotel anywhere. Merry Aug 24, 00, 4:44 am My personal fav's: The Super League: - Dorchester - Savoy - Connaught The Premier League: - Lanesborough - Four Seasons - Berkeley Division One: - Claridge's - Regent London - Hyatt Carlton Tower Division Two: - The Ritz - The Halkin - 47 Park Lane - Conrad International Division Three: - The Capital - Churchill Interconti - Blakes Nick rfrost Aug 24, 00, 8:34 am My personal bests are the Connaught (though the rooms aren't necessarily gorgeous, the service is amazing and it's like walking into another world), the Athenaeum (great Green Park views, very pretty rooms and I love the location), the Stafford (for reasons similar to those for the Connaught) and the Savoy (it's very convenient if you are planning on a lot of theater, has a lot of history and great showerheads, but I didn't find the service quite what it should have been). Suggest you decide what part of twon you want to be in, and take it from there. cordelli Aug 24, 00, 9:09 am I like the Hotel Russell in Russell Square. Nothing fancy, just a huge old Hotel on the square, a block from the Underground, a decent selection of Pubs and Restaurants in the area, etc. We usually book them through www.hotelbook.com, (http://www.hotelbook.com,) they offer some incredible rates on London hotels if there are promotions going on. We have never had a problem with them. Of course, if they don't have any promotions going on, or the rooms are all full then the rates will be a different story. clanson Aug 24, 00, 11:03 am My wife and I like the St. Ermins. It has recently become a Hilton (Points = Yes) and it is within easy walking distance of Buckingham Palace. The newly renovated rooms have the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept in. OKYNOT Aug 24, 00, 6:11 pm On a weekend up coming in October I am considering a samll hotel (the Beaufort) at Beaufort Gardens in Knightsbridge. Any comments would be apprecaited.
