ASIANA EXPANDS BUSINESS CLASS

Asiana Airlines said yesterday it would begin offering business class seats on all of its 18 domestic routes Dec. 28.

Passengers traveling business class will pay an additional 11,000 Korean won [about $8.63 in US currency] and will be offered services such as an exclusive check-in counter and a permit to take an additional 7 kg [15.4 pounds] of baggage compared with the 23 kg [50.6 pound] limit for economy class passengers, officials said.

Korean Air currently offers business class seats on 13 of its domestic routes.

[Contributor’s note: Since most Korean domestic flights are under an hour in duration and service is usually limited to a cup of juice or soft drink, most of the advantage would appear to be in the ground service. No indication if flying business class will earn a mileage bonus.]
