It was only just a year ago that the final ever revenue Ansett flight touched down in Sydney for the last ever time.
I still remember my final SYD-MEL AN091 just over a year ago, and can't help but think what would have been if it weren't for some Kiwi business acumen.
Those stars shone right till the very end. My final boarding pass said
"FAREWELL FROM THE ANSETT FAMILY"
One year on, life has to go on. It's a pity the government has used the demise of Ansett to justify a tax that goes no where now. Contrary to public belief the tax funds are not being donated to Ansett staff as entitlements. At least the government has renamed the tax.
