Deadline looms as Ansett sale negotiations continue
The Thursday deadline for the sale of Ansett to the Tesna consortium is looming as last minute negotiations continue.

The Civil Aviation and Safety Authority (CASA) is yet to receive documents from the Fox-Lew consortium, which would allow it to carry out regulatory checks.

The revamped airline cannot take to the skies under the Tesna banner until the checks have been completed, although special approval to operate under the old banner can be obtained from the administrators.

CASA spokesman Peter Gibson says the checks could take up to two days to complete.

"There are a number of tasks the Civil Aviation and Safety Authority has to undertake to ensure that the air operators certificate can be transferred from the administrator to the Tesna group," he said.

"There is some significant safety work involved in that, which will take some time."
