Well, the wait finally got to me and I faxed off my redundancy application yesterday. I have been kept in limbo for the last 5 months, waiting to find out if I have a job with the New Ansett. Week after week I am being told, oh just another 2 weeks to wait. Well I cant wait anymore and the redundancy payment is too good to refuse.

It is going to be a very sad day when I have to take everything back to the office, including my brand new never to be worn uniform, but lets hope I get a new one soon, maybe with a "red" tie.

I stuck it out for as long as I could, but even if I was to offered a job with Ansett again it will only be part time for up to 8 months. Realistically I cant do that.

I have applied to many airlines in the UK and have some interviews lined up (charter airlines), and Australian is starting soon so there are plenty of options.

I really do wish Ansett all the very best, and appreciate all of your support over this difficult time, and who knows, I might be back in the next few years, however I was told they will not be recruiting again for another 18 months to 2 years.

Keep up your support, the future of Ansett is in your hands. At least I don't have to scour the newspapers now for information and I can tell you it ids such a good feeling to be away from that now.

Good luck everyone. AN@SYD

Thanks for being with us over the past year. I know you will be an asset to your new carrier & wish you all the best.

Hopefully you can return to Ansett one day http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Cheers,

It is sad that you do indeed have to leave Ansett, but, as has been said, you will be an asset to your new airline. The service that you and your colleagues offered is renowned the world over. Good luck http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

PS: It's so encouraging to see so many ex-Ansett employees still supporting the airline.

It is sad, and from your posts, you're an informative person who I would hope, be hired by another company, even in these difficult economic times.

Are you going to continue posting here? Eeven without the information that you were able to give us first-hand, I believe that what you know would be very useful in comparing other levels of service, eg. with Australian Airlines when it starts up and Tesna, when and if it does start up (I won't believe it will until the planes fly - there've been too many complications and doubts).

Best wishes,

Clement
