Ansett Australian Global Rewards - RTW segment on Ansett: problem with booking class "D"

on my aug/sep-99 RTW StarAlliance ticket (paid business class) I will fly:

sep-1 AN 888 Hong Kong - Sydney 19:45-06:25*
I know (from you here on FlyerTalk) that this is a two-class (eco&business) flight and that service in business should/will be great on AN.

When I bought and booked the ticket last week with Lufthansa in Switzerland, the agent couldn't book my in business, as there is no booking-class "D* on that flight (there never is, on any date). So, for the moment, she did book me in ece "V" - and will inquire with Ansett, if she really has to "downgrade" me for that segment.

I think, that the Ansett-booking-class-code-info for business (and the same booking class "D" would be for a First-class ticket too) on RTW-StarAliance-tickets is wrong - I don't believe, that the Ansett-system would even force First-Class-RTW-ticket-holders to be downgraded to eco for this segment.

I would appreciate it very much, if one of my "downunder"-friends could inquire with a competent local Ansett-professional.

Your question has been answered.

The problem lies with Lufthansa's computer. There is and have always been "D" class seats for Business Class passengers on Ansett flights.

Sabre has no problem displaying "D" class. And there are seats for the flight you want to travel above.

Your Lufthansa agent needs to do a direct request sell ..(they hopefully should know what it means on their computers)

ie .... directly sell a space using flight numbers, class of service "D", date, destination and end with a NN1.

The message will be generated through Ansett's computer and the space will come back as confirmed.

Hope it helps..

Celestar340 is right. I just checked on an Australian booking site and there are D class seats all over the place on AN HKG-SYD.

Remember to get your favourite seat selection.

Remember to try the wonderful Australian wines.

Remember to skip lunch on Thai and feast on Ansett's wonderful foods.

Are you sure you only want to be in Australia for such a short time?

I had a look at the site and was pretty impressed with the range of Australian wines. If I was in Switzerland I would buy up every bottle of Rockford Basket Press Shiraz. At SFr 26 a bottle its about two-thirds of the price we pay here in Australia but the reality is you can never buy it here. So little is made.
It's a glorious full-bodied Australian shiraz nade by a very idiosyncratic wine-maker.
