America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Anybody Rec'd 2004 Elite Card Yet?

Just curious. I didn't requalify, but asked for a comp since I'll actually be flying HP more this year and based on requalification for Platinum on CO and Gold Preferred on US. I never got a response to my request and am afraid to call because I don't want to hear the dreaded "no!"

Strangely, I haven't received mine yet.
You should get something for CO Plat, especially if you did a lot of premium flying with CO.

Haven't received mine yet... If you're not sure whether you were comp'd, why don't you log in to AmericaWest.com and see what it says your status is?

Because I'm currently Platinum and the status won't change until 3/1. I only flew about 19K on HP last year because I was too busy flying CO and US. Don't get me wrong-I like HP, but it was more convenient to use the other two last year. Now, I'm back to flying in HP territory again, but I'll stay on CO and US if they didn't comp me.

romadaro,
May I ask why you chose to join US instead of UA? Couldn't you just credit the US flights to a UA account?
Ooops! I didn't read your elite list. I guess I should ask why you don't credit US flights to UA?

Byrd:
I've been Chairman's/Priority Gold Plus on US since 1991 with over 1.5 million miles still in the bank. The only drawback to the US/UA partnership is if I chose to have the miles credited to UA, I wouldn't get upgraded on US. Believe me, I found out the hard way. You get "preferred seating in the coach class cabin" but no upgrade. Although I know my miles may be in jeopardy because of US's financial situation, I won't abandon them. They've always been good to me and I can count the number of times on one hand in the past 14 years that I didn't get an upgrade on US. The same holds true on HP. When they were in trouble, I stuck by them. As you can see from my profile, I tend to lean toward the smaller majors-US,HP & CO-since they need me and treat me better than the big guys. The only airline you couldn't pay me to fly is DELTA! Nothing but bad experiences with them and I haven't set foot on one of their planes since the last one-over 7 years ago!

romadaro,
I just noticed you're from Silver Springs. My uncle lives there.
Being on the east coast, I'd be interested to know how you use HP. Do you fly them from the east or just when you're out west?
Also, the reason I asked about the US vs UA had more to do with UA miles being more versatile.

Byrd:
Last year most of my business trips were concentrated on the east coast. This year it's the west coast-SLC, PHX, LAX, SFO, SEA, ABQ, DEN-so I will be flying from BWI or DCA, as I've done in previous years.
As far as the UA miles being more versatile, I can use US miles to book trips on UA, which is part of the partnership agreement. The thing is, however, it's easier to upgrade on US than it is on UA, since there seems to be millions of Premier and 100K members in their program.

By versatile, I was thinking that the UA miles could be redeemed on more airlines. I've got a boatload of UA miles that I'm planning on redeeming on Emirites.
If you don't fly intl much and upgrades are more important then I guess US is a good fit for you. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

US was approved in November and becomes part of the Star Alliance on April 1, so I'll be able to use my US miles on all the *A airlines......and you'll be able to use your UA miles to fly US, if the need ever arises!

Wow, I didn't know that. In that case, you're in a good position.

I received mine in the mail yesterday, as did another person in my neighborhood who is a Plat. I live in Phoenix.
Nothing new or exciting, they are still talking about their big win for the best Elite Program, and in the next sentence it says that unlimited upgrades are still available. It sounded like they were trying to give the impression that nothing has changed since they received the award, which we all know is not the case.

Yeah, I'm getting tired of the "We won the Freddy!" print and logos as well. I wonder what they'll say when they don't win this year.
