America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - First Time on America West - Join FF or Are They Tied in w/ Others?

I am on America West for the first time next week.
I already belong to FF programs on five other airlines (AA, CO, DL, UA, US). Can I get credit for America West flights on any of those five?
If not, what is the best way to join the HP program to maximize the joining bonus. Also, how long does it take before points expire so I know if it is even worth joining.
thanks,
Alan

Can you give us the flight details?

Currently you can't credit HP miles to any of those airlines.

Joining bonus? Unless I missed something there is no bonus for enrollment. Just sign up and you're in.

Miles expire after the industry standard three years. I would sign up anyway just in case you find yourself on HP again. You'll reach the free flight threshold at 15/25k miles. Although, being from IAH that means only a westbound flight.

No, you can't earn anything on any of those airlines (CO partnership ended 9/02). And for that matter, HP flights are worthless mileage-wise because if you aren't a FlightFund member, BA will only give you 25%, NW will only credit you for a very small number of flights that connect to their service to Asia, and unless you live in Hawaii or travel there alot, HawaiianMiles are useless to you, too.
HP miles stay valid for 3 years, like all
other airlines.
Just join FlightFund, that's really your only logical option to earn miles with any real value. When I joined (a few years ago, though) I got something like a 3,000 mile online enrollment bonus but I'm sure they don't offer this anymore.
Are you in Y or F? Don't expect a meal if you're flying from IAH.

Flight Fund miles do not expire as long as you have activity of any kind, every three years.

Hi,
You could also join Virgin Atlantic Flying Club ( full mileage even for discounted fares unlike another national UK airline I could mention.( BA): D
Probably HP would be your best bet without knowing your likely travel pattern.

I was in the same situation last year, I joined Flightfund, flew my four flights with America West and now I have 4,900 miles with their program. They have a few interesting partners, I get 50 miles everytime I make a Supershuttle Reservation online so I guess I'll crawl towards 25,000 and be able to go see Las Vegas when I turn 84.

I hope this isn't too late, but I just thought I'd add this.
Seeing how you're close to EWR, I would credit the miles to VS as Banking_Scotsuggested. Then occasionaly add to the VS account via CO or future HP flights. The VS miles will be far more useful since you can redeem them for Hotels, Eurostar, fine dining, safaris, shopping, etc.
