View Full Version : Creating Mileage Runs

I have played with the multicity section of the HP site to see how I can make a mileage run. Mostly, wha I get is the return box that says a ticket to this destination is unavailable.

Is their a better way of using this section so that I can make mileage runs. I know that I could do a couple of West to East and return trips for cheap, but I am hoping to stop into cities in the heartland so that I can get some work done on the way.
(we manufacture aquaria feeds and have customers in most major cities).

I wonder if I may be very limited because of the Vegas/Phoenix hub system.

Thanks for any input,

Edward

Im not sure what you're trying to accomplish. Can you list the routing you were trying to create?

Doing MR's on HP can be a pain in the ... due to the close proximity of the LAS & PHX hubs.

The best MR(value and miles) that can be done on HP's system is a mix of LAX/SFO-JFK/BOS. You won't have to worry about connections and you can get 5200 miles in one day.

I was hoping to get in a run that looks like this

SNA to SAT or AUS, then on to New Orleans, then to Miami, and back to SNA. I was assuming that I would end up hubbing back and forth through the LAS, or PHX hubs.

But when I put in for a SNA to SAT/AUS to New Orleans, or SNA to New Orleans to SAT/AUS, I was getting the void box.

Basically, I have a trip to New Orleans, but I have some dead time around it, and I wanted to fill it with miles.

Huge thanks for taking a look at this.

To put it simply, HP's system will not back-track.

You can't specify SAT-AUS-MSY. You have to specify every segment. Try this.

Segment#1 - SNA-SAT (via PHX/LAS)
Segment#2 - SAT-PHX/LAS
Segment#3 - PHX/LAS-AUS
Segment#4 - AUS-PHX/LAS
Segment#5 - PHX/LAS-MSY
Segment#6 - MSY-SNA (via PHX/LAS)

Here's a tip.. Sometimes HP charges little to fly out of PHX via LAS, or vice versa. So if you fly back into PHX or LAS try pricing a flight out of the opposite hub. It may add time, but it's an extra 500 miles.

Good luck.
