America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Can I extend an America West travel voucher?

I got bumped off a flight and received a voucher for $300 of travel from America West that expires in late May. I can't use it before then, does anyone know if there's a way to extend it? When I called customer service, they said if I don't use it by then, I lose it. Thanks!

welcome to FlyerTalk. This post belongs to the airline-specific forums on FT Miles, in the America West forum. I'm moving it there.

As a general rule you can't extend it. You could send an email to customer.advocate@americawest.com and explain your situation. Good Luck

I have a similar question --
My voucher is expired, but they never dated it.
I keep wondering if they would honor it.
Any guesses?

Buy a ticket with your voucher and than change the dates so that you can use it. It will cost you $100, but at least you won't loose the value of the voucher.

Sell your voucher on eBay.

If they didn't date it, what on the voucher would make one think it was expired?

Thanks for all your suggestions! I called America West, and they told me that even if I bought a ticket with the voucher and I tried to change the ticket, all of the travel would have to be completed by the expiration date of the voucher. I'm planning to call back to see if the next rep gives me the same answer. Last resort: a quick weekend jaunt to the warmest place I can get to with the voucher!
