America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Upgrade to F using Future travel award

I am a recent gold elite on HP. A question for you HP experts as I am getting a mixed answers from HP. I am flying from DFW to GEG. I plan on paying for ticket using FTA.My question being will I get the comp. upgrade 2 days prior to the day of flight if available by paying for ticket using a FTA. The terms and conditions are very vague concerning this. Anyone with any experience with this? I understand that I do not get flight fund mileage. One reader of this board has told me that as long as I make the reservation with my FF number in the record, the computer should recognize me as gold elite and upgrade me if seats are available 2 days prior to departure. Any thoughts. Thanks

Officially, you are not entitled to upgrade benefits. You should still see if they will put your # in the record. Also, it never hurts to ask at the gate. You never know.
