Today in the Local Section of the Arizona Republic was a was a nearly full page Ad focusing on American's new New York-JFK to Phoenix service with an extra emphasis on the double miles. It could get interesting here in the Valley.

"Interesting" is right. Take a look at HP's "Fare Sales" page.

Now if AA would just start flying between LA and Phoenix :-)

I think AA did fly between PHX and LAX for a little while before 9-11. I agree that it would really send a message to HP. There was an article recently that compared the airlines cost per mile to fly. AA was over 10 cents if I remember and SW was I think around 7 cents. I would think HP woulb be in the middle somewhere

AA flew LAX-PHX with MD80 equipment prior to and immediately following 9/11. Service was suspended for a period and reintroduced with AA Eagle. The loads never materialized and service was discontinued a 2nd time about six months ago or more.

"Or more" would be the correct answer.
Quite unfortunate, as I used to fly American Airlines on occassion when they offered the SJC and LAX service. Now without those nonstops and without the AAdmirals Club, I avoid American.
You'd think after their combinations with AirCal, Reno Air, Trans World Airlines, et al. they'd offer better service to PHX. :O
....its also a jab at DL. Besides HP, DL was the only other Phx airline with a JFK Non-stop.

Not to mention, Delta has a hub operation at DFW. Or should I say, Delta Connection has a hub operation at DFW http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif.
