America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Do Value Awards Exist?

Is it me or is it impossible to get a value award? I'm looking to use miles for a PHX-CLE trip in both July and November and I can only get Top Value (50M)award seats. Just for kicks I started punching in random dates and still NO value awards. HP is going to force me to WN.

WN is a good choice, you should go!

I assume WN is not relevant to the specific question to finding seats on HP. If you were just stating that to bash HP, then yes WN is a better choice for you and award seat availability.

Just call HP and ask what dates are available.

I use Value awards often and usually have little problem.

I've never had any problem redeeming for value rewards. Although, I find it a better value to buy the ticket then upgrade to J using miles.

Same here I buy the ticket and upgrade with miles if I think the Comp upgrade will not clear. However when I get tickets for family I usually have no problem finding seats. My advise is just call...

Twice I have redeemed HP miles...both coach value from SAN-PHX-GDL....both times I was upgraded automatically (PLAT)...why would one use miles to upgrade when they can strategically book and obtain the upgrades for FREE?? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Because there are times when F is pretty full days before the upgrade window. This happens when HP has First Class Sales and for other reasons. I am a Platinum and usually bat 100% however on a BOS-PHX-SAN I am not going to take a chance of riding in the back if it appears close I use the miles. I have more then I know what to do with at times. The other reason I would do this is If was riding with a companion.

I can see the point about a companion..but that's why I used the word "strategically" in regards to booking....make sure there is an OPEN F cabin.

Do you mean 3 million HP miles, or three million CO, US, and HP miles combined?

Im trying to reach the 2MM level on AA to enjoy that sweet lifetime Plat.

3 million HP...I have slightly over 2 million CO...usually use a lot of my US..haven't got but 150K there or so.
I'm not really concerned with lifetime anything.
