America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Earning Miles and Using Vouchers

Howdy! IMHO, one (1) of the worst Flight Fund features is earning ZERO (0) miles on a ticket purchased using travel voucher. Even if voucher was for one dollar, no miles. Has anyone earned miles on another carrier [NW] when using such a voucher-aided ticket?

I agree that this is a bad deal. It is the only reason I never volunteer to give up my seat, even on the rare occasions when the time isn't of concern to me.
I'm not aware of any other airline that imposes this restriction. I know NW didn't used to do it, but I have not been a frequent traveler of NW domestically for several years.

Thanks for the input, AZ. Don't intend to fly NW. Want to have my World Perks number placed on the HP ticket which I bought with voucher. Any experience(s)?

Sorry, I misunderstood. My understanding is that the field for the FF# is inactive on these reservations. You can't even force a number in. It used to work that people would receive credit on occasion, but I've heard they fixed that in the system such that it never works anymore.
(Edited to remove now-incorrect info.)

I wouldn't even mind the "no miles" rule if they allowed me to be upgraded.

I agree. As a Platinum member, the inability to be upgraded as I am on any other fare, or to upgrade a companion, or confirm an upgrade with miles for a companion is what makes it a non-starter for me personally.
I don't understand why they would draw that line -- it seems very petty to me.

FWIW I was told by a "supervisor" that as long as the fare amount is over the value of the voucher Elite upgrades are allowed. If you use a $ 100 voucher for a $79 fare no upgrade, use it for a $ 129 fare you get upgraded etc.

If you use an AirCheck and AirCheck Plus certificate, those earn FF mileage. The Future Travel Awards and Transportation Vouchers do not.
